How to Pack

Savannah is a southern city blessed with warm comfortable temperatures most of the year and has an average temperature of 77F (25C). While we occasionally experience a cold snap or two, we suggest packing clothes on the lighter, breathable, and comfortable side. When heading out for evening entertainment, feel free to dress to the nines or keep it casual. Casual dress is welcomed at most of our fine dining restaurants. As they want to be remembered for their fantastic food not their dress code!

Most importantly, remember these two things: One, don’t forget your walking shoes and two, double check the forecast.

Spring weather in Savannah ranges from 70F to 85F (22C to 29C). You’ll be treated to cool mornings and warm evenings, so a few layers might be in order depending on when you head out to enjoy our city. Plus, with the beautiful azaleas in bloom it’s perfect weather to break out those comfortable walking shoes. March kicks off beach season in Savannah, so bring your flip-flops and enjoy our rooftop pools or .

Get ready for some hot summer nights (possibly in more ways than one) with highs ranging from 85F to 90F (29C to 33C). Lighter, airier clothes are a must. Be sure to bring your bathing suit so you can enjoy our rooftop pools or . During July and August, we get some afternoon showers that never last very long but might catch off guard while you’re exploring. Remember to stay safe while you enjoy the sun by using sunscreen and drinking water.

Autumn is almost a repeat of spring, just without the azaleas, with temps ranging from 65F to 85F (18C to 29C). Enjoy cool mornings and warm evenings as you travel by our live oaks trees covered in their signature Spanish moss. Even in the fall it’s often still warm enough enjoy our rooftop pools or .
Our winters have a mild chill, averaging highs of 60F – 70F (16C – 22C). You may want to bring a jacket or scarf for the chillier mornings. As the beautiful greenery stays all year round, think about packing a few layers for those walking days. There are occasionally days with lower temperatures, so be sure to check the weather forecast before you pack.
