Unfortunately, the Savannah Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon will not return for 2022. We know that the marathon allowed many visitors to fall in love with our city from the start to the finish line. Running through the famous squares and under the Spanish Moss and Live Oaks could count as your own private tour.

While we can’t give you the motivation like a marathon, we can give you another kind of motivation that will keep you moving. How about some private tours you can experience?

A Square Run?

You can start with a tour of those famous squares. Our Savannah’s Green Spaces not only guides you through the 22 squares, but many of the historic district’s green spaces. Like Morrell Park, home to the Waving Girl and the 1996 Olympic Yachting Cauldron. Follow along to Colonial Park Cemetery, a fascinating green space that is (you guessed it) also a cemetery. So far, the residents haven’t complained, just some light haunting. You can run to each space and then take a moment to relax.

A Nature Walk?

Maybe you’d like to know about the trees you are running past when you explore. Check out our Downtown Savannah Tree Tour courtesy of our friends at Bike Walk Savannah and Savannah Tree Foundation. Discover the other species of trees aside from the Spanish Moss laden Live Oaks. Like the Chinese Fringe Trees growing underneath the canopy in Calhoun Square or the Japanese Maple in Monterey Square. You can say, Hello, to the Candler Oak, one of the oldest trees in downtown Savannah. The tree most likely won’t respond, but it’s nice to be friendly to our over 300-year-old elders.

Drink Break?

Surely, you’ll be thirsty after all that running, walking, or biking. Why not take a break and take some time to Visit with Savannah’s Beer & Spirits?

Get to know Savannah’s growing beer and spirits scene. From Savannah’s first distillery since the 1920s to Savannah’s first mead bar! If you really want to clock your running miles, visit Two Tides Brewing Company and Coastal Empire Beer Company. Both are outside the historic district and further than 2 miles away from our hotels, but both are delicious and worth checking out!

How’s that for motivation! We can’t wait for you explore our beautiful city with us. Whether it’s this November or anytime the Hostess City is ready to welcome you.
